This is a beautiful specimen of deep blue apatite featuring a crystal to just over 4 cm that is well-displayed on contrasting pink calcite matrix. This is a unique locality and style for apatite, which produced mostly prior to the 2000's. I obtained this in a larger specimen and was able to trim it down to a balanced size, exposing the crystal dramatically. Few examples of this material are so aesthetic and have such a gemmy apatite! Most are rather clunky and opaque. So, I believe this to be a very special example, and in any case it stands apart from other apatites for the unique contrasts of crystal and matrix colors here.
