A dramatic kunzite crystal showing an unusually fine and sharp termination, that measures 10 x 4 x 2.5 cm. It has some small amount of attached pegmatite pocket matrix to one side as a welcome accent and difference from all the singles out there. The broad, deep, textbook termination really makes the piece at another level compared to most from this locale, which tend to have etched or irregular terminations. Note that the color on kunzites such as this changes depending on the intensity and direction of the lighting. These photos are what we would call "mid-level" lighting, not too strong or too bright. This is also easier to show the gemminess, in photos. If you angle a halogen into the long axis, it will glow with a more saturated pink color and it will look more internally bright and sparkly, but this makes it harder for the camera to accurately capture the faces, as well. It is a fine cabinet specimen worthy of any serious collector. Herb Obodda Collection. Joe Budd photos.
