This crystal is a classic spinel-twin and is the largest spinel I have seen from this well-known locale: A truly huge, floater (complete-all-around) spinel crystal from recent finds in Vietnam. This large, textbook, octahedral crystal is mottled reddish-brown. Part of the crystal is lustrous, with the remainder having a secondary coating of a moderate luster. This huge specimen is crudely terminated and etched at the base, so is complete-all-around. Very nearly pristine. Weighs 493 grams or a over a pound.
