A hard-to-find matrix Gold specimen from one of the eastern most mining districts of the Colorado Mineral Belt. Idaho Springs is one of the few mining districts on the eastern side of the Continental Divide in Colorado, and the Dixie Mine is arguably the most famous Gold mine in this area. For a short time in the mid 1970's, this mine was owned and operated by famous Colorado dealer and collector Richard A. Kosnar. This particular specimen was collected by Rich Kosnar on April 20th, 1976, and was part of his personal Colorado Gold suite (specimen number G476Dx4). The piece features small, but absolutely superb, razor-sharp, highly lustrous, incredibly well formed, striated octahedral crystals of Gold which are nestled into a small vug of Quartz and are associated with minor sulfides. A great historic, documented Gold specimen from this famous district in Colorado.
