Tourmaline is HIGHLY unusual for this alpine vein environment, and yet this striking specimen features a tower of tourmaline atop quartz! Many, short prismatic, lustrous, black, schorl crystals in stalactitic growth, combine to form a feature rising 4.4 cm in height. It seems to be contacted atop, where it grew into matrix, but in any case certainly displays dramatically. This growth is aesthetically emplaced on glassy and gemmy, colorless, quartz crystals to 1.6 cm across. An important specimen, for the locality, obtained directly from a Swiss strahler before Munich of 2015, by a friend of mine. I have not seen the like.
