Classic specimen of sharp, sub-metallic Cuprite crystals, with a powdery blue layer of Chrysocolla, all on a layer of Calcite crystals. From Mashamba, the premier locality in the DRC, the crystals of Cuprite have the highly desirable, deep, brilliant red glow when backlit. The largest of the two Cuprites is 1.5 cm. This fine, small cab is probably from the well-known 1989 finds, which produced some of the finest Cuprites in world. A textbook example for the modified octahedral form, luster and, of course, color.
