From the collection of Dave Stoudt, who got it from the personal collection of Houston Museum mineral curator Joel Bartsch - a stately crystal of very dark green tourmaline rising from a cluster of flowery white albite, from Pakistan. The tourmaline measures 10 cm from top to bottom. You can see at the pyramidal termination how the crystal has a very interesting "layered" look to it. A shorter crystal, also terminated, has grown alongside the main one, and there is a clear quartz crystal emerging from the albite (which has a small contact, but so what). The large tourmaline is in perfect condition except for a small "shelf" where the crystal grew against an obstruction and then continued its growth with a concave alteration above this obstruction (see close-up of termination area) .
