This is a another great Burmese Danburite crystal from Bill Larson's uniquely comprehensive Burma minerals collection. This crystal is transparent to translucent with a bright yellow exterior and a subtle green-blue core that is obvious only when looking down the top termination of the crystal. This Danburite is well-formed and has a squarish outline that reveals its orthorhombic character even as its termination reveals minor pyramidal modifications. Danburite is an uncommon calcium borosilicate and is especially rare from pegmatites (generally your gem deposits). The mass of this beauty is 33 grams. Mark Mauthner photo.
