Linopolis has produced a surprising number of Brazilianites from mining over the last couple of decades, of quite different style and color than the type locality elsewhere in Minas Gerais (which date from the 1940s so few are available, anyways). The habits of these crystals are strikingly symmetrical and unique. This attractive Brazilianite is gemmy to translucent, doubly terminated and nearly 7 cm long, over 3 cm wide and 2 cm thick. It exhibits the green-yellow color for the species and is very lustrous with well-formed faces and sharp edges. It has two other companion crystals including a 3.3 cm double ended crystal and a 2.5 cm crystal growing out of the base, both of which are partly gemmy. The singly terminated crystal has a distinctly gem end. These Brazilianites are associated with a cluster of white Albite crystals and a couple of small, super lustrous Quartz crystals...all as a bridge to the large Brazilianite crystal. This piece is in perfect condition and displays 360 degrees. An excellent example of the style and form of modern-era Brazilianite finds, probably from a big discovery circa 2003-2004.
