The Kautenbach Mine is famous for its superb pseudomorphs of Galena after Pyromorphite. These old German classics have always been highly sought-after, and this outstanding miniature is one of the super-sharp variety (a separate pocket, perhaps?) that we rarely see. The crystals have exceptional definition and size, here reaching up to a full 1.5 cm across. It is aesthetic and displays nicely, showing off a 3-dimensional display face. These are all old specimens, quite literally, dating to the 1860s and before. Formerly in the Gottingen University collection. An unusually robust specimen with unusually damage-free crystals - a rare old treasure!
