A gorgeous combination specimen featuring unbelieveably red mimetite sparkling on matrix with unbelieveably gemmy orange wulfenite crystals, from a small pocket found and hoarded awhile by the mine owners a few years ago. The Rowley has historically produced a great variety of wulfenite styles and colors, tending more towards small and red crystals - but this particularly saturated color contrast is unique. This is a significant wulfenite for this classic US locale, now worked artisanally by a small team of collectors who had to fight off regulatory agencies of the US government trying to shut their operation down (ironically as a result, the mining is now a research extension of a major university geology department, which has resulted in discovery of a new species!). This specimen came from the collection of claim owner Keith Wentz, and would have been collected around 2012-2013. Comes with custom lucite base. The specimen has such a burst of color and luster, that it really is a breed apart from most other wulfenites I have seen from this or other Arizona locales. Joe Budd photos.
