Shocking magenta to hot-pink cobaltoan dolomite crystals cover the showy, curved vug in matrix on this gorgeous specimen from old finds at this prolific locality. This is certainly one of the most vibrant colors in the mineral kingdom! The flattened rhombohedra are lustrous and sharp. They are dramatically distinct from the more modern occurrences of cobalt-rich dolomite of different crystal habits (and smaller crystals) from both this mine and from Morocco. These sharp, larger crystals came out only sporadically, and in the 1980s and into the 1990s. With a large crystal to just under 3 cm wide, this is a significant specimen for the material, and just plain "color shock" on a shelf.
