This fine miniature specimen is from the premier US locality for ludlamite, the Blackbird Mine of Idaho. The matrix plate is richly covered with gemmy, intergrown, olive-green crystals to 8 mm. The crystals have superb euhedral form, are translucent and sharp. The largest crystal is attractively perched at the top of the piece. Ludlamite from this locale is world-known as among the best crystals of the species for those characteristics. Most of these came out in the 1960s and the mine is long since closed. Ex. Fred Keidel Collection.
