An uncommon CABINET-SIZED specimen of bright, sharp and lustrous primary orpiment from the mine that set a new standard for the species. The translucent crystals are beautifully striated and have textbook form. There is one bruise where the crystals were contacted, but overall the specimen is in wonderful condition, and can actually be displayed from either side, as the specimen formed as a ridge covered all the way around with super crystals. The camera made the color more reddish than the specimen is in person; it is actually the classic FIERY-orange color for this locality...truly spectacular, in person. These orpiments, from a surprise horizon of a working mine, really set a new standard for color and beauty for the species. They are mined out, some 3-4 years now. 10.5 x 6.2 x 5.9 cm
