This is a very sharp, gemmy, single crystal of classic, cranberry-red tourmaline from THE most famous pocket of tourmaline ever hit in Brazil (at least, in most people's opinion), back some 30 years now. It is associated with a small bit of rich purply lepidolite - the classic association for the locale. This one is complete and undamaged all around. It has the unique cranberry-red color that few tourmalines from other localities come close to. It has very high luster and is also somewhat gemmier in person than it appears here (nearly transparent). A specimen like this, with not just the quality and color but also a matrixy aspect, is EXTREMELY uncommon. 5 x 2.1 x 1.2 cm
