Exceedingly attractive, this elongated gold specimen has exceptionally well-defined hopper growth, and the edges of the crystals appearing to possibly be spinel twins. Both are classic habits for Venezuela. This exquisite crystal is way above average - most of this size are severely deformed, even from this prolific locality. This one is elegant and aesthetic as can be. It displays magnificently, with a nice golden-toned patina. 11.73 grams. Displayed/illustrated in the important suite of thumbnail crystallized Venezuela golds of different habits, assembled by F John Barlow in the 1990's, on page 202 of his book THE F JOHN BARLOW COLLECTION (1998). THis is a superb, beyond average, competitive thumbnail for this material!
