Classic, sharp twinned crystal of galena with minor pyrite from the old lead mining district of Tipperary County, Ireland. The galena has as great bright metallic luster with an interesting twin plane along the terminations. Some of the pyrite is also crystalline, with a shiny bright luster. These mines go back hundreds of years and crystals like this are very difficult to obtain. A superb miniature, for display purposes, as well! Currently, the actual minesite is operating as a business so trespassing is strong unadvised especially considering all the specimens are long gone (says MinDat)
