This is a plate of dazzlingly sparkly little crystals of wulfenite, and what is remarkable here is that the specimen is just about ALL wulfenite crystals - there is a little bit of limonite attachment on the back, but it is essentially a matrix-free plate of crystals up to one centimeter thick in places. Though the crystals are small, they are super-lustrous, like tiny gems, intergrown in a series of tightly-packed sheets. One of the labels notes that the specimen was mined in 1972. Ex. Dawn Minette, William Sanborn and E.G. Tribbey Collections.
