This is an old specimen of a style immediately recognizable as being from the "River Island" finds of the 1960s, so well documented in Peter Bancroft's book, Gem & Crystal Treasures (1984). Rose quartz is the rarest and most prized quartz varietal, and good specimens are always sought-after by collectors, particularly when they show a fine aesthetic quality as this one does. This is an exquisite "fan" of translucent, tightly-intergrown crystals that has grown on a crystal of colorless quartz, typical for the find and really quite different from other styles found elsewhere in Brazil, once you compare in person. The rose quartz crystals are large, reaching about 2.5 cm as the ridge of terminations. The crystals have a wonderful sparkly luster, better in person. Old specimen from the famous 1960s finds at this island in the middle of a river, noticeably classic for the find. Comes with custom lucite base.
