Large, Very Good Lorandite With Orpiment
Large, well-formed, 7mm, carmine red, blocky crystal of lorandite nicely accented with orange-yellow orpiment crystals. A few other lorandite crystals are present that are partially overgrown by orpiment. The lorandite crystals exhibit bright red internal reflections with only modest direct lighting mega- or microscopically. Thallium is not a major constituent of many mineral species and this is an exceptional crystal of this rare mineral from the type locality. A superb display-worthy piece. A Southwest Scientific Company label accompanies the specimen.
