A single, nearly 2-inch crystal of cassiterite with a few minor intergrown crystals, from the old mines of Cornwall - who ever saw such a beast! The crystal has a medium luster and is contacted on the bottom and back of the piece but it displays phenomenally. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. No damage can be observed on the display side of the piece. While the West Kitty mine first opened in the 1700's, this crystal likely came out in the late 1920's when the mine was re-opened after a large rich tin deposit was discovered. A couple of collection labels are included with the crystal. I have sene this type of label before but cannot recall whose it was....
