Rare, old-time thumbnail pseudomorph from the famous Ilfeld area. Lustrous and grey-black, the Hausmannite has pseudomorphed a remarkably balanced and well-presented jackstraw cluster of sharp Manganite crystals. To say that this is uncommon, excellent, and classic material from this locality would be an understatement. These old pieces came out in about 1865-1890 (per the excellent 2010 Ilfeld article in The Mineralogical Record). Pseudomorphs (replacements) such as this are extremely uncommon.
