Superbly crystallized, this doubly terminated octahedron of splendent, dark red cuprite, measuring 4 cm in length, and is nearly pristine on the display side (and contacted on back where it grew from matrix). It is, in fact, pristine except only a few very small dings, one on the bottom tip. The luster and surface appeal is crazy good - so bright in strong light that it looks metallic black instead of dark red, in fact. The crystal is imposing and dramatic, and for its size one of the more significant single crystals here and priced reasonably as the back side is contacted, though it presents so impressively from the front.
