No matter how you compare it, this is a fabulous and unique specimen from southern Illinois, let alone anywhere else. First of all, this is a perfect floater, complete all around. LARGE crystals (up to 7.7 cm on edge) dominate the presentation side, with much finer stepped growth Fluorites on the reverse side. The Fluorites are gemmy to translucent, with colors that range from pastel blues and lavenders to a straw yellow. There are super-lustrous, elongated Calcite scalenohedrons on the front, and both species are fluorescent. Mined in 1991 out of a 50 cubic foot pocket, and this one was the keeper for the Lillie collection - the aesthetics on this cabinet piece are excellent. RCL1590
