This is a classic Russian gold crystal from this famous placer deposit, where they also discovered well-formed crystals. John Barlow bought many of these back in the 1990s when Russia opened up, and this was one of several within the Barlow thumbnail collection when it sold to me in 1998 (the dealer contracted to handle the rest of the collection on consignment apparently did not favor thumbnails at the time - their loss!).
