Smithsonite from this small pocket is still one of the hardest examples of the species to obtain. This is from a famous and very small find of the late 1990s (I was in grad school at the time and recall running over to see the lot with a dealer-friend). To this day, it stands unique as a style among Mexico (and worldwide!) smithsonites. Luscious, intergrown, highly lustrous and translucent, slightly bluish green, spherical aggregates, to 2.2 cm across, are superbly emplaced on an ocherous limonite matrix. As an added bonus, there are tiny clusters of gemmy hemimorphite crystals present at the interstices of some of the smithsonite spheres. Just lovely!
