Frosted, light green, crystals of calcite, to 2.0 cm, have grown, inexplicably, in a small vug in petrified wood. Considering the huge influx of silica into the wood, I think that this is an unusual environment for calcite. The green color is caused by vanadium. These are almost impossible to obtain and this is an old specimen, plus one of the best I have seen of its type. 5.5 x 4.8 x1.9 cm
