Prehnite Cast After Anhydrite

This is a magnificent, large, cluster of fingers of prehnite to 7 cm in length. Out of all of them, over a dozen, only one minor finger in the middle is broken off (and it is picked back to the contact so you only see it from the side view, anyhow. It is in pristine shape otherwise, complete all around and extremely 3-dimensional and space filling. The fingers of prehnite are all very lustrous and translucent with a superb, light apple-green color. One small 5 mm crystal of colorless calcite is perched between two fingers of prehnite, for a minor accent. The bottom of the specimen exhibits clear evidence of hollow casts, showing how the prehnite formed atop of and after what were once anhydrite crystals. A layer of calcite grew over part of the bottom, as well (photo on request). This is one of the largest pieces recovered in this quality, nearly pristine and without any repairs. It is thus a major New Jersey specimen, or US prehnite specimen, and for size and impact has a great presence as well.
