An important old rarity, notable for the quality of the display face and the crystal richness. Lustrous, silvery blood-red Cinnabar crystals to 1.2 cm richly adorn the Calcite-coated Cinnabar matrix. The ancient mercury mines at Almaden have been in production since the Roman Age, 2000 years ago. This is a showy, old-time, rich and hefty cinnabar on mercury ore specimen from this historic district. Classic and excellent material, it is rarely seen as anything but smears on a rock in today's market. Purchased in Almaden in 1972.
