This is one of the most sparkly, jewel-like calcites I have seen of this material (once a classic, in the 1960s-1970s, and now quite rare to find). It is a very large, curving cluster of calcite on gossan matrix. The calcites are richly included with dispersed, micro-hematite and this gives them a bright red color. Interestingly, only the top layer of calcite is so included, and thus it contrasts starkly to the sparkling clear calcite below. The piece is very 3-dimensional and is much more impressive in person. Ex. Harold Urish Collection.
