Lovely pink cluster of Cobaltoan Calcite from the Mashamba West Mine in the DRC, from 2018 finds. This cabinet piece is composed of numerous, scalenohedral Cobaltoan Calcite crystals averaging 2cm in length lying at a low angle relative to the substrate. The crystals are translucent to opaque and variegated by bright pastel pink and pinkish white. They are locally accented by a trace amount of orange iron staining. The backside is contacted; however, displays a more vibrant pink color and also has a piece of matrix. Juicy pink color makes this leap out in a showcase or drawer!
