A superb, translucent crystal of rhodonite with intense cherry-red color, the best color and the best frontal luster combined. Together, these qualities make it glow in a showcase when it has just one good light aimed on it, angled from behind. This is from the modern era finds here, roughly 2005-2015 at their best, at this old manganese mine from the 1800s that has been reworked in recent years due to changing ore prices and extraction technology. While bigger came out, they were not only bigger but also order of magnitude more expensive. This is as fine a miniature as most of us will ever see, quality over size, for the miniatures collector who would love the killer color of a red rhodonite to go with a gem crystal suite. 32.15g
