Aquamarine and Schorl on Orthoclase
Description
Aquamarine from Namibia is well-known and fairly common, exhibiting rich color saturation and frequently included by or associated with schorl. This specimen is no exception - the slender, nicely terminated, 2.8 cm aquamarine crystal is associated with some minor schorl, all nestled nicely at the rear of a beige orthoclase to make for an attractive combination thumbnail specimen. A nice example from the locality from the well-known Namibian mineral collection of Shields and Frances Flynn, who self-published the book, Minerals of Namibia - From the Collection of Shields and Frances Flynn in 2018.
