A small cluster of dark brown-black joesmithite crystals is intergrown with dirty white calcite, noted with the arrow, and one flattened, prismatic, 4mm crystal of joesmithite extends off along the adjacent side of the specimen. Heavily disseminated hematite, granular, brick red berzeliite, and pinkish calcite comprise the remainder of the piece. Joesmithite is a member of the Amphibole Group. A great specimen for a Langban collector or someone that specializes in beryllium minerals or species of the Amphibole Group. From Langban, Filipstad, Varmland, Sweden, the type locality. Superb reference specimen. Ex. Swedish Museum of Natural History and Paulo Matioli collections.
