Fine crystals of topaz from the Ural Mountains date back to the czarist days of the mid to late 1800s and are highly sought after today. One like this which is a well formed, transparent, pastel blue, nearly equant crystal, is exceedingly rare today. This is gemmier in person, totally transparent and see-through, with a pastel blue color distinct for the locality. The terminations are pristine there is no damage except a small ding on each of two rear edges. Large crystals of this quality are hard to obtain today. This was for a long time in Gene's extensive topaz miniatures suite, and only recently let go to me after Tucson. It is really as good as the above, but just has a wee bit less clarity and less mass even though it in size looks the same, visually.
