This is one of the finest non-matrix cavansite specimens I have seen: it is a natural "floater" which formed in the pleasing shape of a crescent. Each minutely crystallized, sparkling cluster is intergrown with the next, giving this specimen its unique appearance and form. The color is an intense, deep royal blue, with extremely high luster - THE BEST COLOR YOU CAN ASK FOR in a cavansite and obviously so in person! The individual clusters get as large as 1 cm across. Wonderfully aesthetic! This piece and CM13 came out of a now-famous pocket of such special cavansite that came out around august of 2005 and I bought these two specimens just befor ethe Denver show of that year and then promptly lost track of where I put them til now. These strange floater growths formed in a pod full of minutely crystallized stilbite blades that then fell away with time, seemingly.
