We have all seen many aquamarines from Pakistan, but every now and then a specimen stands out. Elegantly wreathed by white albite is a well formed, glassy and gemmy, light blue aqua crystal measuring 6.2 cm in length. The top half of the crystal exhibits such a strange lack of color that this portion could be called goshenite (colorless beryl), although it is faintly colored and then grades into a pastel blue as it goes down. The clarity and sharpness make it look like glass, and the overall aspect of the color gradiation adds to its uniqueness. The mass is approximately 50 grams. Ex. Gene and Roz Meieran collection. We have seen innumerable small aquamarines from this location - this is a fine specimen that happens to be a full miniature, rather than just another "small aqua." Superb, it stands out dramatically. Note the previous owner is probably the world's top collector of beryls and aquamarine in particular, and it was in his collection for a long time before being exchanged to me.
