A VERY attractive Orpiment specimen from the Twin Creeks Mine in Nevada, with top color saturation! The luster is superb, as is the rich amber color. These striated crystals are gemmy to translucent, and the largest is about 1.5 cm across. Naturally, there is contacting along the sides of the plate, and minor bruising atop, but this has no effect on what are really eye-catching aesthetics. Acquired in 2000, this is likely from the famous find that came out just before then. Obtained surely from his friend Harvey Gordon, who was selling these on the side before the mine reached a contract with another dealer for marketing them later. These older pieces have the best, most bright and sparkling color compared to later ones with bigger blades but more dark hues.
