Hemimorphite
An old-time, cabinet specimen of hemimorphite from the well-known Granby Field of Missouri's Tri-State District. A large vug in karstic limestone is richly lined with scintillating, glassy, colorless hemimorphite blades to about 5 mm. Ex. Raphael Pumpelly, Harvard and George Feist Collections. Feist # 3125. Raphael Pumpelly, 1837-1923, was an American geologist and explorer, and was a Professor of Mining Science at Harvard. This classic specimen probably dates to the late 1800s or very early 1900s.
