This is about as red as Quartz can get. Obviously the crystals are coated with about as much Hematite (or some other kind of iron oxide) as I have seen from any locality, but the effect is dazzling. The Orange River area in South Africa is well known for these specimens, along with a few others like green Fluorite, and I never grow weary of them. I honestly have never seen Quartz crystals with such impactful brick red color as this. I am told that this specimen was actually collected about 10 years ago by a farmer who had no idea what he found. The piece is in amazingly good shape for the size, and many of the crystals are pristine.
