Large cluster of formidable, rich purple Fluorite crystals from the Annabel Lee Mine. The largest Fluorite is over 8 cm on edge, and it has a lovely, uniform purple color that fully complements the highly translucent interior. The stepped growth that these crystals have is typical of the Illinois Fluorites that are found in large pockets. There is a dusting of fluorescent Calcites, particularly along the edges of the steps. Again, super-cool preferential effects. There are also scattered Pyrites crystals, as well as radiation spots within the Fluorite. For something this size, you would expect a small amount of edge wear, and there is. However, it has little effect on the overall aesthetics, which are good, and impressive. Mined in 1990. RCL1235. EXCELLENT example of this style and color, from the mine.
