This is a rare thumbnail crystal that is about as close to a jewel-like look as you can ask for this rare, rare-earth-containing species! The specimen is a balanced and fine thumbnail, complete all around, showing off a textbook orange/amber-colored and nearly translucent columnar, hexagonal crystal, all on matrix of Calcite. The calcite is crystallized in this case whereas most calcite from the location is simply massive. So you have a crystal of significant quality, high translucency, extraordinary color, on crystallized and contrasting matrix... a super rare combination that you could not design better! A very competitive example of the species, and beautiful on its own merits aside from rarity.
