This is a huge (2.5 cm) crystal of gemmy, ruby-red spinel from Burma. It has incredibly ornate form, with baroque curves and flashing faces all over its surface. There are a few smaller crystals as well. A spinels get larger, they tend to develop these interesting growth anomalies.
