A sharp, complete-all-around, balanced specimen consisting of a single geometric crystal from the legendary find of circa 2000-2001, brought out by the Gobin brothers. This remains the finest discovery of the species, for outright quality. This is a significant, competitive-level thumbnail specimen that is volumetric and geometric. The luster is exceptional. The mesmerizing surface detail is a bonus to the overall geometry. Such specimens are simply not available, and have already long ago drifted into the most important thumbnail collections, barring a few that will now surface only on generational time scales as collections recycle. Long in IKONS book author Wayne Thompson's personal collection of Miniatures/Thumbnails built with his daughter, Stevia, when she was young. Laszlo Kupi photo which, honestly, is quite good but these are just so much better in person.

Carrollite from Kamoya South II Mine, DR Congo
Kamoya South II is the modern benchmark locality for carrollite. Its best specimens have the look that made the species famous among contemporary sulfide collectors: brilliant silver to steel-gray crystals, often mirror-faced, with crisp spinel-family geometry set into pale calcite or dolomitic carbonate. The visual effect is unusually clean for a sulfide—hard, metallic geometry against light matrix—and the finest examples have enough reflectivity that the faces flash like cut metal when turned under a lamp.
