Colorless mostly gemmy rhombohedral crystals of calcite measuring to 0.7 cm in size across a dolomite crystal covered matrix with small chalcopyrite crystals. In good condition with good color contrast.Cavnic, located in Maramures County in northwestern Romania, has a rich mining history spanning several centuries, with early extraction activities dating back centuries. Modern industrial-scale operations at the Cavnic mine officially opened in 1958, focusing heavily on the extraction of polymetallic ores. Geologically, the area is situated within the volcanic and tectonic belt of the Gutai Mountains, featuring complex hydrothermal vein systems hosted in Neogene volcanic rocks. These veins are renowned for producing vast reserves of lead, zinc, copper, gold, and silver, alongside world-class crystallized mineral specimens including quartz, carbonates, and sulfides.
