SUPERB, cherry-red, gem crystal of the rare manganese species Rhodonite: it looks for all the world like a Jolly Rancher candy! Previously, before this find at an old industrial manganese mine in Brazil, the only few crystals of such a quality came out of Australia at the turn of the 1900s. Now, because of this remarkable find in the early 2020s, there are large, showy Rhodonite crystals available, for the moment - though not as many as we would wish. This is a robust, well-formed crystal with the absolute best cherry-red color, excellent clarity, and one fine termination. I heard one expert on Brazilian minerals wonder at what a great gemstone could be cut from this, and that's true. But this single crystal is so good it could be simply displayed, or mounted as is as a pendant in jewelry. Truly, one of the best Rhodonites you are likely to come across and a competitive level thumbnail specimen.
