Lustrous blocky caramel colored crystals of wulfenite on a calcite matrix. Minimal damage present. The Erupcion Mine, located in the Los Lamentos district of Chihuahua, Mexico, is a historic lead and zinc mining operation with a major production boom during the early twentieth century. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within massive Cretaceous limestone formations that have undergone extensive fracturing and secondary oxidation processes. These hydrothermal and supergene alterations created rich secondary ore zones containing lead and zinc carbonates and sulfates. The mine is world-famous among mineral collectors for producing some of the finest, most sought-after specimens of bright orange, blocky and tabular wulfenite crystals, frequently associated with anglesite, cerussite, and vanadinite
