Lustrous translucent green crystals of ludlamite covering the top of matrix. In good condition. Very nice for this Idaho classic.The Blackbird Mine, located in Lemhi County, Idaho, is a historic mining site with operations beginning for gold in the late nineteenth century and transitioning into intensive copper and cobalt extraction, particularly driven by government demand during the mid-twentieth century. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the Idaho Cobalt Belt and is hosted primarily in Mesoproterozoic metasedimentary strata, specifically the Apple Creek Formation. The mineralization consists of complex stratabound and replacement-style orebodies formed through prolonged hydrothermal activity and regional metamorphism, containing notable concentrations of cobaltite and chalcopyrite within a deformed gangue matrix.
