Crystallized dolomite quite rich in a cluster with calcite and pyrrhotite. A floater with no points of attachment, in great condition all around.The Trepca mineral complex, located in Kosovo, is a historic mining district with centuries of metal extraction dating back to Roman times, followed by major industrial scale underground operations during the twentieth century. Geologically, the deposit is situated within a collision zone where Tertiary calc-alkaline volcanic and subvolcanic rocks intruded into Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary formations. This magmatic activity drove hydrothermal systems that formed extensive skarn and replacement ore bodies rich in lead, zinc, and silver. The underground workings are famous among mineral collectors for producing large, highly crystallized specimens of minerals such as pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, quartz, calcite, sphalerite, and galena.
