Fine large cabinet piece with rhombohedral crystals of calcite across the top of matrix. This is in terrific condition. The Droujba Mine, located in the Laki ore district within the Rhodope Mountains of Plovdiv Province, Bulgaria, has a long history of metal extraction dating back to ancient times. Geologically, the deposit is part of a major polymetallic province hosted within metamorphic and Cenozoic volcanic- tectonic structures of the region. Hydrothermal activity channeled mineral-rich fluids through major fault zones, creating rich vein systems and replacement bodies. The underground workings have become internationally famous among mineral collectors for producing exceptional, high-luster specimens of galena, sphalerite, calcite, and crystal-clear quartz.
